On Sunday 10th March 2024 at 13:57 UTC, Zdenko 9A4FM a radio amateur from Croatia made contact with IQ9MY a group of radio amateurs from Sicily which were operating from the Riserva Naturale Orientata Saline di Priolo (IFF-0533) on the 20m amateur radio band.

Riserva Naturale Orientata Saline di Priolo (IFF-0533) is a salt pan of basin which is rich in reeds and Salicornietti (also known as Salicornia) which along with the wetland of the reserve provide an unique refuge for resident and migratory birds.

The reserve has successfully increased the population since its establishment and is the only nesting site for Flamingo's on the island of Sicilly.
