A stone marker designates the spot where in the darkness of May 2, 1863 Lieutenant General Thomas J. “Stonewall” Jackson was mistakenly shot by his own men in the confusion and nervousness that inevitably attend nighttime operations. One of the shots severely damaged his left arm which was amputated the next day. Pneumonia set in, and on May 10, 1863, the general died in Guinea Station. Good bird's eye view in Bing of this spot.
