On Tuesday 27th September 2022, Gillian MI0VW and Phil GI4HQB, a couple of radio amateurs from Ludlow in England reached the summit of Slieve Donard and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 16 contacts in total working on the 2 metre VHF amateur radio band.
