The Smallwood Store sits on the southern tip of the secluded Everglades Island of Chokoloske. The store was established in 1906 by Ted Smallwood as the need for goods and mail hit the growing settlement. In 1974 Smallwood was added to the National Register of Historic Places. The store remained open until 1982 and much of the goods from that time remain in the store. In 1990 Ted's granddaughter reopened the store as a museum.
