Special Event "to support our Ukrainian friends" in JN01VM

On 15th May 2023 Josep a member of the "Digigrup-EA3” operating a special event station in rural Catalonia northwest of the city of Barcelona made contact via the Qatar-OSCAR 100 satellite transponder with Tom in Poland.

"Digigrup-EA3” was operating the special event station to "support our Ukrainian friends” and was using the special callsign EH3UKR.

The transponder has an uplink on 2.4GHz and a downlink on 100GHz and was a joint project between the Qatar Satellite Company, Qatar ARS and AMSAT (Deutschland). It is on board the Es-hail-2 satellite which was launched in 2018. The satellite is in geo-stationary orbit above the equator at 26 degrees East.

Josep gave his QRA locator as JN01VM. On the southern border of this grid square is the village of Masquefa.
