On Tuesday 26th March 2024 at 10:08 UTC, Francois ON4AUB, a radio amateur from Belgium made contact with Kathleen OT9K/P, a radio amateur from Belgium who was operating from Spierbroek (ONFF-0497) on the 40m amateur radio band. Kathleen made a total of 132 contacts while at the reserve.
Spierbroek (ONFF-0497), is a protected area of 107 hectares located north of the town of Bomen in the north of Belgium. The nature reserve is situated on reclaimed land which was a former swamp alongside the Schelt River.
The reserve has areas of forest and lakes and ponds which provide a great environment for view the flora and fauna or for exercise.
