St. Patrick's College Maynooth is a Pontifical University and the National Seminary for Ireland College and is more informally known as Maynooth College.

The college was granted its Pontifical Charter in 1896 and since that time has given degrees in theology, canon law, philosophy, and related areas of study.

The college dates from 1795 when it was established by the Maynooth College Act as a seminary for the education of Roman Catholic priests. Students at the College remained exclusively clerical until 1966, when lay students were admitted to study National University of Ireland degree courses.
