On Tuesday 10th January 2023, Sid ZS5AYC and Adele ZS5APT, a couple of radio amateurs from South Africa reached the summit of Talc Beacon and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 28 contacts in total working on the 40, 30 and 10 metre HF amateur radio bands.

The summit of Talc Beacon is 2067 metres (6781 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
