August 5. 1888 Bertha Benz, the wife of Richard Benz who made the first car, the Benz Model 1 in 1886 were on a trip with her two children between the German cities Mannheim to Pforzheim in their Benz Motor Waggon 3 when the car was running out of gas.
They came to the city of Wiesloch and came to the pharmacy to buy Ligroin, the fuel for their cars that only was available at pharmacies. Ligroin was also a common cleaning supply.

The route Mannheim to Pforzheim became the first long distance trip with a car of 88 km (54 miles). And the first gas station operater was pharmacist Ockel.
