Located in the northern parts of modern-day Tunisia lies the ruins of an ancient Roman city called Dougga. Dougga was a town before the Romans conquered it after the wins against Carthage in the three Punic Wars. Pre-Roman structures have been found at the site; a necropolis, a mausoleum and temples. These monuments show the significance Dougga had before the Romans arrived.
The city is well preserved and several remains are left behind today. Some of these ruins include an amphitheatre, two theatres, triumphal arches, baths, a circus, temples, forum and much more.
