Tishomingo is a town in the northeast corner of Mississippi. The town is named after the Chickasaw chief, Tishomingo who received a silver medal from George Washington and served under Andrew Jackson. Tishomingo died of smallpox on the Trail of Tears and is buried in Arkansas.
