St. Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, his wife St. Tsarina Alexandra and their five children: St. Olga, St. Tatiana, St. Maria, St. Anastasia, and St. Alexey are passion-bearers canonized by the Russian Orthodox Church in 2000. They were murdered in 1918 and their bodies were thrown into the pit in the place named Ganina Yama (Russian: Ганина Яма), 15 km north from Yekaterinburg, Russia. In 2000 this place is commemorated by a monastery dedicated to the Holy Tsar's Family - Passion-Bearers (Russian: Монастырь в честь Святых Царственных Страстотерпцев).
