Duddeston Viaduct was planned to take something like three years to build for the purpose of linking two railways together. It was half-completed before being abandoned in favour of another route for the same link. This view shows the end of the first section. It does continue across the road but it looks like the linking bridge sections were never installed. A link below gives an aerial view showing the extent of the main section. Zoom out of that a little to see the whole thing. It is a significant construction of impressive size - when you don't know what it is. To discover it was never finished nor demolished, rail tracks never laid, it remains merely as a memorial to poor human planning.
