This was the home of Anson Wolcott, the founder of the town in which it stands. Construction began in 1859 and ended after Wolcott finished serving in the Civil War. Wolcott died in this house in 1907.

Since 1974, the Wolcott Historical Society has made restorations to the home. At certain times, visitors can tour the house. It is available to rent for social functions. In 1999, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
