On Sunday 29th October 2023, Matt W4GO, a radio amateur from Midland, VA reached the summit of Wrights Peak and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 49 contacts in total working on the 40m, 20m and 17m amateur radio bands.
