The Zharkent Mosque is a unique mosque which is constructed from wood and resembling a Chinese Pagoda.

It is widely believed that the Mosque was originally constructed entirely without the use of nails.

The Mosque built shortly after the town of Zharkent became part of Tsarist Russia. The cost of construction was met by a Valiakum Yudashev a Uighyr and local merchant.

The Mosque was built to the design of a Chinese architect Hong Pik, which helps explain the Chinese influences apparent in the building.
