The Akron Zips men's soccer team is a member of the Mid-American Conference and are regularly ranked as a top 10 program. They won a national championship in 2010 under current Portland Timber coach, Caleb Porter. The Zips have produced several notable MLS players like: Darlington Nagbe (2010 Hermann Trophy winner), Darren Mattocks, DeAndre Yedlin, Perry Kitchen, Steve Zakuani and Teal Bunbury (2009 Hermann Trophy winner).
