1963-1971
The main library building was designed by Ieoh Ming Pei, the 1983 recipient of the Pritzker Architecture Prize. Construction began in 1966 and was completed in 1969. The dedication ceremony was held on May 16 1971 to commemorate the building and the installation of the Large Arch sculpture create by Henry Moore. The building had an addition in 1988 to its north end. The building continues to serve as the main library building.
