Fillmore East was a rock concert venue in Manhattan's East Village from 1968 to 1971. Among the artists performing were Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention, The Allman Brothers Band, the Grateful Dead, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Big Brother & Holding Company, B.B. King, Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Winter, Doors, Buddy Rich, Grateful Dead, Taj Mahal, Janis Joplin, Richie Havens, Blood Sweat & Tears, Ike & Tina Turner, Fats Domino, Odetta, Cat Stevens, Jefferson Airplane, The Who, Santana, James Taylor, Led Zeppelin, Elton John. Many live albums were recorded here.
