In 1967 the former estate in tail of Krapperup was transformed into a trust foundation. The reason was hereditary, the purpose was the urgency of preserving the manor and the gardens in their surrounding rural landscape, as they had remained since medieval times. Accordingly the estate is presently run as it was by the family, with a well functioning agricultural holding of about 5000 acres.

The foundation supports scientists and scientific research within the region.

The old buildings around the former stable yard now accommodates a museum and an art gallery, a music hall and a small café cum shop for the visitors. The manor house is open for prebooked visits only, but the gardens are accessible all year around.

The estate of Krapperup is known from medieval times, but the existing manor house dates from the 16th century. Regarding the interiors these have the character of the Victorian period. The stately rooms are all situated in the main building, leaving the wings for the family’s private rooms. The gardens of Krapperup covers about 80 acres and expanded in the beginning of the 19th century from earlier formal and utilitarian gardens to the present romantic garden with winding paths, rock formations and glittering lakes.
