High schools up in this area have a reputation for painting the first letter of their school on a nearby mountainside. This is typically a senior project. I live in Loyalton, CA, and we have a big 'L' on the SW side of Mt Ina Coolbrith. The 'L' in this picture stands for Lassen High School, the local High School in Susanville.
