Lesnes Abbey

The abbey of St Thomas the Martyr was founded in 1178 but had fallen into disrepair at the start of the 15th century. Rebuilding started in the early 16th century but was stopped c1524-5. Today, the ruins are accessible by the public and are in well maintained common land and gardens.
