Remains of the Washington and Great Falls Electric Railroad

Remains of the Washington and Great Falls Electric Railroad (StreetView)
Washington and Great Falls Electric Railroad was an electric powered tramway in Washington DC. The tramway was active from 1902 to 1960s. The tramway's route was from Georgetown to Glen Echo.

Today the old, but abandoned bridge over Foundry Branch can be seen, but it is in bad condition and badly overgrown. Parts of the old flat trackbed can also still be seen today is walkable. On Old Street in Georgetown you can also see the remains of a cobblestoned road with the original rail still embedded in the road.
