The images have been somewhat updated. Google Maps and Live Local have pics during construction of new Wembley. Yahoo Maps still shows old Wembley intact.
Demolition has begun. As of April 2007, all that remains is the old Foley's, which is at the north end of the mall. The rest is rubble. The Foley's that is still standing is featured in the Local Live thumbnail.
This is on Grapevine Middle School, in the city of Grapevine. Kinda ironic, since in Keller ISD a few miles away, they don't even allow soda sales in any schools, so logo placement just blows me away.
The road in question is Basswood Blvd. I drive past this going to and from work everyday. They have built it up since this pic, and there's a housing development further down the road now.
Personally, I like seeing them suck. I'm from St. Louis, a city that the Bidwills screwed over. At least we got a Lombardi trophy, something Arizona will never get.
There's one I know of in OK that is not in hi-res, at least last time I checked. It's the one that is on a bridge over the Will Rogers Turnpike near Vinita. As for mapping all, there's bound to be some duplicity. There are two McD's just down the freeway from me that would be on the same map. Good thing we aren't going for Starbucks here; that would be hellacious!
It's funny how the Capitol Building is pixelated and other buildings like the White House have their roofs shaded in, yet on Terraserver and other sites they are not.
It appears that the wreckage from those homes are strewn about the neighboring area. You can clearly see piles of debris a couple blocks from the levee breach.
Actually, it's the track and field classic in conjunction with the Sugar Bowl. The game itself is played in the Superdome, although it looks like it'll be in Baton Rouge this year.
There was just a segment on FOX 4 News in Dallas that reported that any surviving sealife and other animals were transported to various other facilities, including the Dallas World Aquarium, until the Aquarium of the America's is functioning again.
Worth noting, on the Wikipedia entry for the Superdome, they have an anaglyphic image of the the satellite imagery. Be sure you have red-blue 3D glasses though.
This is actually the last remaining runway from the old Great Southwest Airport. This was Fort Worth's airport to counter Love Field before DFW was built. I remember that Airport Freeway run under this runway in a tunnel. They rebuilt this area about 10-15 years ago and the runway south of Airport Freeway is now Amon Carter Blvd.
This kind of intersection couldn't possibly be built in Fort Worth, or anywhere else in the US, for that matter. It would take valuable room from restaurants, gas stations and hotels. :)
Also of note, the darkened area in the center parking lot is the site of the old Exhibition Stadium, former home of the Blue Jays from 1977-1989. The course used to curve around the stadium.
Eminent domain came up in North Texas a few years ago. If you look at my pic of North East Mall, the development to the south used to be a neighborhood of very large homes that had been there for as long as I can remember. The city of Hurst did the same thing the New London is doing and now it is a shopping center.
For most of my time there, it was half it's current size. During my junior year, they were building the second gymnasium on the north end and the extension on the south end.
That's what I figured, but it just looks freaky. And there is actually another instance of multiple shots of the same plane just to the east from this one.
I wasn't quite sure of the name of it. I knew about it and I used a Mapsco to find where it was. I should have guessed since the road next to the runway was called Hillcrest Dr.
Hat trick! However the link bumps you to the northeast away from this site. Proper link would be this: http://maps.google.com/maps?ll=34.943175,-85.395827&spn=0.012810,0.018153&z=1&t=k&hl=en
