Looks like it could be an offshore oil rig. Kinda tough to tell though.

The spot is Payu Island, or Koh Payu. It's hard to find info on, and I can't find anything about a rig or platform there.

Interesting... well apparantly the island is popular for divers so perhaps the object is a big floating diving platform (or really big boat of some kind to hold divers). It must be really big considering the scale of the map.

Yeah, it seems to me an oil rig and scuba divers wouldn't be a good thing to be close together. It's awfully close to the island too.

I'll go with the farming/fishing/harvesting idea...you can clearly see the water through square "nets" on both sides coming out from the central 3-section boat-like object. Sponges mabye?

On closer inspection I think it's of wooden construction. I think the east half is below water, too.
