1942 – President Franklin D. Roosevelt issued executive order 9066 which resulted in the removal of 120,000 Japanese American men, women and children from their homes in the western states and Hawaii.

1949 – A British European Airways Douglas Dakota collided in clear weather with a Royal Air Force Avro Anson T21. There were no survivors.
