A single-model year revision for AMC's Rambler Ambassador was made for 1962 with a grille reminiscent of 1961-1962 Classics of the time. All units had a 327 cubic inch V8 producing either 250 hp on regular fuel or 270 hp with a 4-barrel carburetor running on premium fuel, with the latter configuration being a respectable performer, with the 3-speed manual sedan capable of reaching 60 mph just as fast as one of the prototypical muscle cars, the 1957 Rambler Rebel. An upscale 400 trim level was also available, coming with vinyl bucket seats, headrests and color-coordinated shag carpets.
