1970 AMC Rebel "The Machine"

1970 AMC Rebel "The Machine"

Royal Oak, Michigan (MI), US
A mid-size muscle sedan with an appropriately patriotic red white and blue color scheme also coming with a large hood scoop, it appeared on the heels of the 1969 S/C Rambler for the 1970 model year, debuting on October 25, 1969 at the NHRA World Championship Drag Race Finals in Dallas, Texas, in which it was being introduced as AMC's limited edition halo vehicle. A 340 horsepower 390 cubic inch (6.4 liter) V8 was standard for it. Its performance certainly hasn't shown much aging, either, with a 0-60 time of 6.4 seconds that remains respectable today. This example out of 2,236 built for 1970 is shown at the 15th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise.
