April 2023 - Centenary Marked 3 Years Late

The recently renovated Seacombe Ferry Terminal, which reopened in October 2022 after a 2-year multi-million-pound upgrade, was the starting point for the first municipal bus service in the town of Wallasey which commenced on 3rd April 1920.

Due to the Covid Pandemic the Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway only marked the Centenary on 9th April 1923. Part of the commemoration was a road run by preserved buses in the Museums fleet on the inaugural route from the Ferry Terminal to Grove Road station.

The Seacombe Ferry Terminal is operated by Mersey Ferries and connects the Wirral with Liverpool on the opposite bank of the river Mersey.
