On Saturday 2nd August 2023, Katsu JR8MHA/7, a radio amateur from Japan, reached the summit of Asahidake and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 15 contacts in total working on the 40m, 20m and 15m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Asahidake is 1830 metres (6004 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
The summit of Asahidake is in the Fukushima Prefecture on Honshu Island.
