The Top Station of the Ashgabat Cable Way is in the foothills of the Kopetdag Mountain range, at 4,170 metres asl and 4km (2.5 miles) southwest of the Turkmenistan capital, Ashgabat.

Each of the 16 cars or gondolas on the Cable Way can accommodate 8 passengers.The gondalas offer passengers impressive views of the mountains above and of the city of Ashgabat below.

The Cable Way was constructed by the French company Bouygues S.A with work starting in 2005. The President of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov opened the service on 18 October 2006.
