On Sunday 25th September 2022, Dean K2JB, a radio amateur from Asheville, NC reached the summit of Big Cataloochee Mountain and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 13 contacts in total working on the 40 and 20 metre HF amateur radio bands.
