The Bolton Steam Museum, which is operated by The Northern Mill Engine Society volunteers, houses one of the largest collection of static textile mill steam engines in the UK.
Included in the collection is a small engine named "Caroline" which formerly powered the workshop of Bolton Steeplejack, Fred Dibnah.
Other interesting exhibits at the museum include a unique engine manufactured by Musgraves of Bolton, a 'non-dead-centre' vertical engine and a rare twin beam engine dating from 1840.
