Broulee Canoe Tree

Broulee Canoe Tree (StreetView)
On the trunk of this redgum tree is an oval-shaped scar, left when an enormous sheet of bark was removed with a stone ax to make a canoe. The height of the cutting shows that 1 man stood on the shoulders of another to take the bark from the best position.

Believed to be around two hundred years old, the tree has narrowly escaped destruction several times.
