The hospital houses arsonists and sex offenders who receive psychiatric treatment and care at the medium-secure accommodation. On the site of former hospital buildings a new luxury housing development is being built.
This is also the centre point of Great Britain excluding islands according to 2002 studies by Ordnance Survey.
