On Wednesday 10th August 2022, K1JD and W5YA a pair of radio amateurs from Santa Fe, NM reached the summit of Cerro de la Garita and activated this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

They made 56 contacts in total working on the 40, 30, 20, 17 and 15 metre HF amateur radio bands.
