CHKO Sumava (OKFF-0013), is a protected area of 167,117 hectares lying in the south of Boemia along the German border. It was designated as a UNESCO-MAB Biosphere Reserve in 1990. The Šumava mountain range is covered by the most extensive forest in Central Europe.
