On Friday 22nd March 2024 at 10:32 UTC, Lothar DL3HXX, a radio amateur from Germany made contact with Frank OK/F4JYM/P, a radio amateur from France who was operating from CHKO Sumava (OKFF-0013) on the 40m amateur radio band.
CHKO Sumava (OKFF-0013), is a protected area of 167,117 hectares lying in the south of Boemia along the German border. It was designated as a UNESCO-MAB Biosphere Reserve in 1990. The Šumava mountain range is covered by the most extensive forest in Central Europe.
