Eric Norwood Gamecock legend 2006-2009

Eric Norwood (5/24/88) arrived at the University of South Carolina in 2006 as a three-star recruit and #34 ranked strongside defensive end according to Rivals.com.

Immediately Norwood make an impact as an undersized defensive end, recording 30 tackles, 9 tackles for a loss and 7 sacks. He earned First Team Freshman All-American from The Sporting News.

In his sophomore year Eric accounted for 69 tackles, 19.5 for a loss and 6 sacks, earning him First Team All-SEC as voted on by the coaches.

Junior year saw Norwood move to linebacker, but the production continued. Norwood posted 75 tackles, 14.5 for a loss and 9 sacks earning him First Team All-SEC (Coaches, AP) again. After the season Norwood planned to enter the 2009 NFL Draft but changed his mind and came back for his senior year.

2009 saw Norwood post 81 tackles, 11.5 for a loss and 7 sacks, breaking the Gamecock career records for sacks (29) and tackles for a loss (54.5) which he still ownes. Eric earned 2009 First Team All-SEC (Coaches, AP) and a couple First Team All-American places(AP, Walter Camp). Norwood is one of the most decorated defensive players in the SEC.

Norwood posted the following numbers at the 2010 NFL Combine: 6'0" 7/8, 242 lbs., 4.71 40-yard, 1.58 10-yard 4.23 20-short shuttle 7.08 3-cone 36 1/2 vertical and 21 reps of 225 lbs.

Norwood was drafted in the 4th round by the Carolina Panthers but was cut in 2012.

Norwood currently plays his football in Canada for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Eric has performed well, accumulating 108 tackles, 21 sacks and 3 touchdowns in his 3 years there.
