Gypsy Cove World War II Gun Emplacement

Gypsy Cove World War II Gun Emplacement

Stanley, Falkland Islands (Malvinas) (FK)
This Gun Emplacement at Gypsy Cove on the Cape Pembroke peninsula some 4 miles (6.5km) northeast from Stanley, the Islands capital, is one of many similar emplacements on the Falkland Islands. They were constructed during World War II and were located especially on the coast protecting the approaches to Stanley.

The two heavily corroded guns are set into concrete on the bleak headland above the cove and it is immediately clear whether there was any other structure connected with the guns which would have offered those manning the emplacement protection from the elements or from enemy fire.
