Johann Strauss Sr, (March 14. 1804 – September 25. 1849) was originally buried here at the Döblinger cemetery (Altere Doblinger Friedhof), today the Strauss-Lanner-Park, but 1904 he was exhumed and his remains interred in a honoary grave at the Vienna Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) in Vienna.

Johann Strauss Sr's most famous work is the "Radetzky March" from 1848.

Next to his grave here is his rival Joseph Lanner (April 12. 1801 – April 14. 1843) who also got an honorary grave at the Vienna Central Cemetery (Zentralfriedhof) in Vienna in 1904.

He was the father of Johann Strauss Jr who among other composed "The Blue Danube" and the "Tritsch-Tratsch-Polka". He also composed the operettas, Die Fledermaus and Der Zigeunerbaron.
