On Thursday 20th April 2023, Masanori JO2BWZ/2, a radio amateur from Japan reached the summit of Kamiodani and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 19 contacts in total working on the 30m amateur radio band.
