On Monday 8th January 2024 the British newspaper, The Guardian, reported on the rescue of a family of three adults and their two guides who had been trapped since Saturday deep inside the flooded Križna Jama Cave.

The trapped party had taken refuge some 2km from the cave entrance where rescue divers had taken them food, water, medicines and even a heated tent. The evacuation of the trapped party, however, had to wait until the water level in the cave had dropped and took an hour to complete.
