The Lakeland International Raceway opened in July 1960. It consisted of a road circuit that incorporated a quarter-mile drag strip as well as a speedway oval track. It closed in 1979. It featured in the cult classic film Two-Lane Blackstop, starring James Taylor, Dennis Wilson, Laurie Bird and Warren Oates.
