This is one of the locks on the Llangollen Canal which is known as Povey’s Lock. The rise on this lock is 6’ 7” (2m).

The 44 mile (72km) long Llangollen Canal links Llangollen in Wales with Hurleston in the unitary authority of Cheshire East, in the ceremonial county of Cheshire, in England. At Hurleston there is a junction with the Shropshire Union Canal.

This lock is a Historic England Grade II building. The official listing noting that the lock and spillway are a brick basin with topped with sandstone coping stones. The Lock has a single upper gate and double lower gates.
