Makli Necropolis (Urdu: مکلی کا شہرِ خموشاں; Sindhi: مڪلي جو مقام) is one of the world's largest funerary sites, spread over an area of 10 km. The site houses about 500,000 to 1,000,000 tombs built over a 400-year period. The Necropolis features several large funerary monuments belonging to royalty, Sufi saints, and esteemed scholars. The site was inscribed a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981 as an "outstanding testament" to Sindhi civilization between the 1300s and 1700s.
