On Saturday 9th September 2023, Marnus ZS6MSM, a radio amateur from Nelspruit, South Africa reached the summit of Makobolwane and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.

He made 20 contacts in total working on the 40m, 30m, 20m and 10m amateur radio bands.
