Between 17 June 2023 and 24 June 2023, a team of amateur radio operators form Germany were om Market Reef in the Baltic.

The team used the callsign OJ0EME while on the reef and operated on the 2m, 7cm, 23cm, 13cm, 9cm, 6cm and 3cm amateur radio bands.

At 19:44UTC on Sunday 18th June 2023, one of the team made contact via the Qatar-OSCAR 100 satellite transponder with Josep EA3A a Spanish radio amateur.

The transponder has an uplink on 2.4GHz and a downlink on 100GHz and was a joint project between the Qatar Satellite Company, Qatar ARS and AMSAT (Deutschland). It is on board the Es-hail-2 satellite which was launched in 2018. The satellite is in geo-stationary orbit above the equator at 26 degrees East.

Market Reef (Märket) is a small n the Baltic Sea The skerry has shared sovereignty between Sweden and Finland under the Treaty of Fredrikshamn of 1809. The 3-hectare (8.2-acre) island is uninhabited but does have a lighthouse.
