On Saturday 6th April 2024 at 09:07 UTC, Lucas ON3YB, a radio amateur from Belgium, made contact with Emil YO5PUV/P, a radio amateur from Romania, who was operating from Munții Trascăului (YOFF-0171), on the 20m amateur radio band. Emil made a total of 46 contacts while at the reserve.
Munții Trascăului (YOFF-0171), is a protected area of 931,600 hectares located in the central part of the Western Carpathian Mountains in Romania. It was designated as a Special Protection Area under the EU's Birds Directive in 2007.
