On Friday 11th August 2023, Hiroyuki JM1OZP/0, a radio amateur from Japan, reached the summit of Oomiyama and became the first to activate this summit on the amateur radio bands for the Summits on the Air (“SOTA”) group.
He made 18 contacts in total working on the 70cm, 2m, and 40m amateur radio bands.
The summit of Oomiyama is 1664 metres (5459 feet) asl. It has a rating of 10 points on the SOTA group database.
The summit of Oomiyama is in the Nagano Prefecture on Honshu Island.
